CDH/CLARIN Workshop: ParlaMint, an Introduction to Multilingual Parliamentary Data: In this hands-on workshop, you will explore and compare parliamentary proceedings from 29 European countries and regions with two user-friendly tools: the CLARIN.SI noSketchEngine concordancer and the TEITOK service. The ParlaMint family of corpora contains over a billion words from parliamentary sessions across national and regional parliaments in Europe, spanning at least 2015–2022. It stands out for its adherence to FAIR principles, comparable design for transnational and translingual research, extensive linguistic annotations, and rich metadata. The corpora metadata includes detailed information on speakers, parties, and speeches, such as names, titles, speakers’ gender, age, roles, and party affiliation and status in relation to the government, political leanings, speech dates, parliamentary sessions, terms, topics, and sentiment.
This workshop is designed to familiarise you with a set of skills for querying the ParlaMint corpora, using both simple search strings and advanced CQL queries. You will also learn how to analyse results alongside speaker and speech metadata, including sentiment and topic analysis added under the ongoing ParlaCAP project. Additionally, you will get a glimpse into how to interpret the results for various digital humanities research questions. The workshop will be held on 20 November 2025 from 10:00 - 13:00h.
