Once automated handwritten text recognition delivers raw text, the critical scholarly challenge begins: how do we turn lines of characters into structured, searchable, and semantically rich digital editions? Speaking directly to the conference theme "Not All AI Is Created Equal," this session investigates where general-purpose AI tools suffice, where specialized domain models are non-negotiable, and how human editorial expertise shapes the outcome. Over six presentations, researchers share practical workflows bridging raw HTR output, automated entity extraction, metadata enrichment, and critical digital publishing.
