KU Leuven will be hosting their annual Digital Humanities Summer School on 7-8 September in the Agora Learning Centre in Leuven. This year, the summer school will consist of a number of activities including a series of workshops (theoretical introduction followed by hands-on training on one or more tools), including:
- Text Encoding Initiative (TEI) with Barbara Bordalejo
- Stylometry with R by Mike Kestemont and Jan Rybicki
- Databases and Network Analysis with Mark Depauw & Yanne Broux
- Optical Character Recognition (OCR) and Named Entity Recognition (NER) with Sam Alloing, Roxanne Wyns, Katrien Depuydt, Jesse de Does
Another highlight will be a panel discussion on Digital Humanities and/in libraries with Saskia Scheltjens (Ghent University), Trudi Noordermeer (Antwerp University), Demmy Verbeke (KU Leuven) and Steven Claeyssens (National Library of the Netherlands).
Additionally, the summer school will host a poster exhibition to showcase recent research conducted in the field of digital humanities.The call for poster abstracts is currently open. Deadline: 20 August 2015.
