Symposium: Arts, Culture and Contemporary Society: 19-20 September, Ghent

On behalf of GhentCDH Steering Committee member Kris Rutten and the organising committee, we are delighted to announce a two-day symposium on the role of the arts and culture in contemporary society, which will take place in Ghent on 19-20 September 2016.

The ‘Schermen met cultuur’ symposium, which includes a vibrant line-up of speakers, anticipates the opening of ‘De Krook’, the new public library and digital innovation centre opening in the heart of Ghent in March 2017.

The programme invites participants to reflect on issues such as digitisation and culture, the role of arts and cultural institutions in the urban environment, citizenship and culture, as well as exploring the implications for the future of cultural literacy. Interventions from artistic and cultural practitioners around 3D immersive sound, arts, culture and video gaming and the library of the future are a core part of the event.

The full programme and further details about registration are available on the symposium website

Please note: the majority of the presentations will be in Dutch.

The organisers look forward to welcoming you to Ghent in September.
